Getting the look you have always wanted.
A lot of us have realized that our inner hottie has longer, thicker hair than we were actually graced with. Who doesn't want wavy hip-length locks? Yet the universe taunts us with hair that, while cute, barely brushes our shoulders.
And that's why hair extensions are so popular, and not just in Hollywood! Girls the world 'round just love to realize that it is possible to take their current look and give it a lift and have any style they desire... well, for a few months, anyhow.
If you've always wanted super-long and sexy hair, extensions may be the only way to get the length you desire. Why should celebrities have all the fun!
What are Tape-In Hair Extensions?
Seamless extensions are “tape-in” thin wefts that get applied in “sandwiches” between your own hair in rows. It is the most requested hair extension method in salons worldwide. This method is 100% natural, requires no tools or chemicals, and lasts up to three months. It takes less than an hour to apply.
What are Keratip Hair Extensions?
A keratin tipped (Kera-tip) hair extension is a small bundle of hair that is dipped into keratin protein adhesive to form a 'tip' at the top. The tip is usually 1/2" to 1" in length size, and the width size depends on the type of tip that has been formed. They come in shapes of shoelace (which is straight and thin) and fingertip (which is curved like your finger nail). A shoelace tip is more versatile, due to its shape. It tends to fit better in microlink or shrink links. The tip width you chose will depend on the process you want to use.
Pre-tipped hair is hair that has been dipped one time in keratin adhesive, that means there is enough glue to keep the bond together NOT to attach it to your own hair with it. You will need to add either more glue (basic fusion process) or a link/tube (microlink or shrink link). Pre-glued/pre-bonded hair is hair that is dipped more than once to give a slightly thicker tip. With pre-glued hair you have enough glue to bond it AND attach it to your hair (fusion heat wand). When pre-glued hair has a shoelace tip you can also use microlinks that are a wider diameter (extra large). When pre-glued hair has a fingertip, you will only be able to use the fusion heat wand.
Facts about Hair Extensions.
Extensions don't only to add length. You can choose to add volume instead (or in addition to length), which is perfect for fine, limp or thinning hair.
Turn that bob into a mane! If your existing hair is at little as 3 inches long, you can get extensions, although the extent of your transformation may be limited if your hair is very short.
Extensions can be braided in, glued in, woven in, or -- if you only need a follicular boost for a special event -- clipped in.
You can also add highlights or color -- with shades ranging from mild to wild -- to your hair with the use of extensions.
The process isn't painful, so it shouldn't hurt a bit.
What to look for in Hair Extensions.
A hairstyle can make or break your look. Before choosing a hair extension, here are some factors to consider:
What are the extensions made from? Are they synthetic or 100%- natural human hair? (Human hair is more expensive than synthetic counterparts.)
How will the extensions be applied and removed?
Can you choose from a variety of weights?
The goal with hair extensions is to have the most natural look you can achieve. Have fun and go for the long, beautiful hair!
